KA Holdings emerged following the successes of the two sister companies, Project Technik Ltd and Project Technik Building Supplies Ltd established in 2006. Project Technik Ltd is an experienced ceiling, drywall, plastering and interior finishing contracting company, specializing in commercial and residential finishes, while Project Technik Building Supplies Ltd is one of Malta’s leading building material supplier focusing on product requirements for turnkey contractors.

In 2012, Managing Director Kurt Abela, encouraged by the accomplishments of both companies, moved into the property development business thus establishing KA Holdings Ltd. The company’s main strategic goal is property development and leasing for commercial and residential use. It was instantly successful in the commercial segment, developing Centris I business gateway in the Central Business District (Mriehel), which is fully rented out to various blue-chip companies. KA Holdings is now building Centris II, whilst diversifying its offering by having top quality short let apartments and a new boutique hotel in prime areas in Malta.

KA Finance p.l.c (company registration number C-91544 ) was registered in Malta in terms of the Act on 22nd April 2019 as a public limited liability company and is domiciled in Malta. The principal objective of the company is to carry out the business of a finance and investment company and in particular to provide financing to meet financing requirements of the business of KA Holdings Ltd.


KA Holdings Ltd is a property development and management company for commercial and residential properties. The initial commercial project conceived was the 4500 square meter business centre in the Central Business District (Mriehel), Centris I, a commercial block purposely developed to house several diverse businesses. Constructed and finished by the two sister companies, KA Developments and Project Technik, Centris boasts a state-of-the-art finish.

KA Holdings holds a diverse portfolio having top quality short let apartments and a new boutique hotel in prime areas in Malta. The company is now also in the process of building a second block, Centris II, to house more companies looking to set up in this sought-after commercial district.

KA Holdings was incorporated in 2012 and is a limited trading company in accordance to the laws and regulations of Malta as well as certified by the MFSA. Kurt Abela as the managing director of KA Holdings and Project Technik is the major shareholder in all the companies whereas other shareholders have different stakes within the companies.

Each share was issued with the nominal value of €1 and has an authorised and issued share capital, as follows:
  • 49,999 shares KA Holdings limited
  • 1 share Project Technik limited


Grant Thornton are appointed as the external auditors for the limited company KA Developments, providing reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatements and prepared according to an accounting framework.

The audit committee for KA Finance plc oversees the financial reporting process, ensuring that the necessary precautions and risk mitigation procedures are adhered to. This committee is accountable and directly responds to the Board of Directors of the company.

Kurt Abela
Managing Director

Mr. Kurt Abela is an entrepreneur who set up his first business Project Technik in 2006. Having gained years of experience in this industry, offered a solid foundation on which he could successfully develop other ventures.

He quickly identified an opportunity for expansion in the market and started an import and retail branch, Project Technik Building Supplies, providing building supplies to the turnkey contracting industry.

Encouraged by the success of both businesses, in 2012 he further expanded his well-established business into property development.

John Soler
Non-executive Chairman

Mr. John Soler has over forty-five years’ experience in retail banking after holding several senior positions with Bank of Valletta p.l.c. He led the bank’s operations for over a decade before being appointed to the senior management team as Chief Officer Credit, with responsibility for Bank of Valletta’s lending portfolio comprising of corporate, business and consumer lending as well as home loans and card business.

Mr Soler is presently chairman of the board of FCM Bank Ltd, and sits on the board of AX Holdings Limited, Valletta Cruise Port p.l.c., Orion Finance p.l.c. and Orion Retail Investments Ltd. He is Chairman of the Audit Committee of AX Holdings Limited, Orion Finance p.l.c., Orion Retail Investments Ltd. and M Demajo Holdings Ltd.

Etienne Borg Cardona
Non-executive Director

Dr. Etienne Borg Cardona is a certified public accountant by profession and holds a Ph.D. in leadership and management from Cranfield University, UK.

He initially gained experience in banking and in accountancy and audit practice, followed by a thirty-year career in leadership positions in the private sector, most recently as CEO of a leading group of companies. In 2017, he set up Capital Advisory, an independent consulting firm advising on corporate finance, financial management and corporate governance.

He currently sits as an independent non-executive director on boards of listed, regulated, and private local and international companies in various industry sectors.

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants and of the Malta Institute of Accountants, where he was elected to council between 2012 and 2021. He is currently a council member of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP), Malta, where he chairs the Directors’ and Corporate Service Providers subcommittee, and a member of the Institute of Directors UK.

His doctoral study at Cranfield Business School has researched the attraction of executive talent to SMEs, and he also holds a Masters degree in Financial Services from the University of Malta.

He has lectured financial management in the department of accountancy within the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta, on the history of finance, commerce, and money in modern economies at the University of Malta Centre for Liberal Arts and Sciences, and on financial management at Cranfield Business School, Cranfield University, UK.
